NORTH
TEXAS DIRECTOR DIALOGUE – Preston Juvenal
WOW! This has
already been a great riding season and we’re just getting started. T-17 was
hoot. Once again Danny Gordon worked his magic on the chili and nearly 100
riders enjoyed some of the best roads that Arkansas has to offer. Going forward, Bill
and Becky Wing are stepping in to continue this event in fine style, thank ‘em next time you see ‘em. Then we
turned right around a couple of weeks and later and boogied down the By-way
(HWY 7 that is…) with Robert Bashaw and 30+ riders. I missed Friday night and
the threesome on Harleys that registered for the event, then commenced to
regale the crowd with “Biker Poetry.” Let Robert tell you the story. Anybody get a video? A change in this event
date, from fall to spring, seems to have agreed with most. Robert laid out 3
terrific routes and this one continues to be a regional favorite. Put it on
your list!
I’m pulling
together the loose ends to get to Lexingtonthis month. I don’t know, sometimes you just gottago, like they say. We’ve added a couple of days to take in the Honda Hoot at
the end of the STAR week. I really enjoy centering some vacation time towards
our HSTA events, we’ve made it a family affair. Both
my sons can join me this year and that’s a rare event in itself. I hope retirement finds me soon, these
rallies need at least 6 months out of the year to attend and work is sure
getting in the way……Ride Safe and we’ll see ya out
there. PJ
Welcome these new/renewed HSTA Texas Members
Give ‘em a call or email and
invite them on a ride. They are not
listed in the 2005 HSTA Blue Book

Join us at
STAR05 here in the Bluegrass and enjoy some
unique riding and sightseeing.
Come enjoy
the rolling upland plateau of the “Bluegrass” that is the horse country, the
rugged isolated “hills” of the Appalachian mountains famous for “moonshine” and
challenging terrain and the hauntingly beautiful “knobs” of the Outer Bluegrass
that will surprise and test your riding abilities.
After a long
wet but not very cold winter, Kentuckyhas a warm welcoming countenance. Lush, soft, almost radiantly green.
The horse
farms are scenes from the most romantically idealized movies. With ponds brimming, brooks sparkling, barns
and fences gleaming as background to colts frolicking the farms are at their
most picture perfect in years. They are
often different styles but all are ultimate Kodak Moments.
For insight
into the raw scope and economic impact of the horse industry or why these
multimillion $$ business are so very well kept go

The Lunch Ride: Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort
Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort commemorates more than one era of history! Salt springs at Blue Licks attracted prehistoric mammoths and formed a center of Indian life, then later proved important to frontiersmen like Daniel Boone, who was captured here by Indians while operating the saltworks. During the 19th century, the mineral springs were a popular health resort. But Blue Licks is most renowned as the site of the last battle of the Revolutionary War in Kentucky. In 1782, Kentuckians engaged Indians and British soldiers near the Licking River. For more information check the web: http://parks.ky.gov/bluelick.htm
